Ryder Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 After arriving home from The Entrance with a load of unused weed, I hit a local spot for the last of the runout tide. I was surprised to see Trevor there, and more surprised there was nothing in the bag. He had been getting heaps of fish, but all undersized. Once I turned up all that stopped. He started getting nothing. My float went down fast and after a short fight my first weed caught Tarwhine was on the deck.
aeb870 Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Odd catch on weed.... Never heard of a Tarwhine or a Bream taking weed before.
Ryder Posted May 17, 2015 Author Posted May 17, 2015 Sorry everyone, but it was a thrill for me.haha Inside the harbour, I have seen the following fish caught on weed. Blackfish ( obviously ) Saw tail Surgeonfish Bream Tarwhine Flathead Tailor And I have seen Trevor hook a king. The blacks and surgeons go for the weed. The bream and Tarwhine like the goodies in the weed. Red worms and baby shrimp. Flathead, tailor and kings follow, and hit the weed winding in, must look like baitfish.
Burnsey Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Hi Ryder - great tarwhine! I once managed a flattie on ribbon weed. How were the blackfish at The Entrance?
Sydneyfisher12 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I've caught heaps of bream on weed actually caught more bream on weed than blackfish in one session
Stapo Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I've caught bully mullet on weed. You know when you have a big one on. I've also seen Ep caught with weed on the wall at The Entrance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ryder Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 I really struggled at the Entrance , despite Stapos help. I got 3 this big. Trevor reckons I have bad juju again.
Stapo Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 We all struggled mate. You can't catch them if their not there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

SgtBundy Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Dad was blackfishing the Entrance today from a kayak - he said there were a lot of downs but only got two on the hook.

Burnsey Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Sorry, accidentally posted same message twice above. We got plagued by small blackies at The Entrance last winter. Hopefully more large ones will start to school and come into the lake soon.
