dogbox Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/south-west/new-442-million-moorebank-marina-to-transform-industrial-waterfront/story-fngr8hxh-1227037459419 Did anyone see the news the other night about the new Moorebank marina Don't know of its a good idea the river struggles as it is with floods, shallows, and traffic dogbox
amkr Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 It's been planned since they announced the Georges Fair development. I think its an all right idea as long as they do something to clean the water up a bit in the process. The jet-ski hero's will hate it as it will extend the no wash zone - not that they pay attention to those.
chocolate Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 I think its a good idea to have a marina there , But on the other hand its to fair way up river, More boats there will only cause more erosion of the river bank. And when its open there will more boats in the system , What about Deep Water when the speed boats are on and people from the marina who want to go down river. Also when it rains you would not take you boat out after add least week due to Sh-T in the water No thanks, I lived in Moorebank for over 25years my house back on to the old brick pit there which is now Georges Fair and with resect to anyone who owns a house there i would never buy a house there due to the CLAY being unstable , Due to the hole being filled up , There has not been a enough time for the land to settle before building, As our house was getting cracks in walls due to land moving over years.
Welster Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 It would be a shame if the Marina affects water skiing in that part of the river. When I was young not much of the river was able to be skied on and it was further reduced by the m5. The area of the proposed marina is already a hole pretty much so the site either needed to be remeadiated or turned into a Marina I think the Marina is cheaper. I can imagine the locals liking more cafe type area but it wouldn't rank as somewhere I'd like to keep a nice boat! Its a pretty slow trip even to get to the bay. The Brick Pit site was filled with the excavated material from the Cross City Tunnel. It will mostly be crushed sandstone, the stable and compactable nature of the material allowed them to expediate development. Really I think it's nothing new and there has been reclaimed and filled land built on all over Sydney. What amazes me is developers can strip the land back bare but if you want to remove one tree it's s hassle.
skirulz Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 I love how the water is so blue anyone seen these articles too http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/south-west/authorities-unsure-of-what-caused-hundreds-of-fish-in-georges-river-to-suddenly-die/story-fngr8hxh-1227223701514 http://www.smh.com.au/environment/water-issues/warning-issued-after-sewage-flows-into-georges-river-20131125-2y5c9.html i dont think i would even let that water touch my feet....
roadrunnerparts Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 By the way, for info, the D.A. for the marina was lodged between 5 - 8 years ago, whilst we had our warehouse in Chipping Norton/
zook2001 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Some people launch there and head out to Botany Bay, it's a long way but at least the ramp doesn't get crowded,a mariner will fix that. The jet skiers are all meant to move to Chipping Norton Lakes, can't see it myself, the residents will freak about the noise.
