skirulz Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Hi Whats the better unit nss7 evo 2 or HDS7 gen 3 as HDS7 gen 3 with sidescan and chrip sonar on specials so wondering which one to go for?
Commodore Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 I have recently bought a a NSS8 Simrad touch screen for $1500. It is was a superb package which includes the chart and an internet link. It has a good screen size and and is touch screen which is very handy when in choppy conditions. The instructions are a bit light on and it is not as intuitive as you would like but if you spend a bit of time working it out it quickly becomes easy to use. I found it was better value for money for the Lowrence products
Swifty13 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 simrad is a higher end product! im a big fan off the NSS but im using the Evo1 i can only imagine the evo2 is a step above!!
NaClH2OK9 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) As swifty says. The simrad is a better quality unit with better components. I've got the evo2 12' and perhaps a little overkill for my boat, but i love it. Lots more features than I use on my 5m half cab though (I don't use radar. Autopilot. And don't have an engine with all the sensors) I think it comes down to bundle prices on the day as these can make a huge difference to the price.. But I wouldn't pay too much attention to the bundled cmap. I don't think it's so good. And have upgraded to Navionics platinum. Last time I looked simrad were offering cash back deals. I'm not saying the Lawrence isn't a good unit though. Just as Important make sure you budget for a good quality chirp transducer. Edited June 25, 2015 by NaClH2OK9
Swifty13 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Also, love the NSS update where you can view AND CONTROL you unit from a tablet!! can setup tablet at back of boat where you are fishing and no have to go back to the unit!
