Dulux72 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Hi All, This is my first post. I have just got into fishing in the last six months. I have been fishing off the beach (Collaroy, Northern beaches). I have been fishing for whiting. I believe this can slow down a bit during the winter months. Does anyone have suggestions for species off the beach in the winter months? Baits, rigs etc? Cheers Matt
Crossfire63 Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Theres plenty of Salmon and Tailor around at the moment at first light or late in the evening A simple rig of an appropriate sized sand gripper sinker and 60cm trace to a set of 5/0 Gang hooks or triple snelled (I use these) I have quite a good session on them this morning with 6 Salmon in a 2hr session down south
Dulux72 Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Thanks for the reply Crossfire. I'll look up that rig.

Cheers Matt We target salmon tailor jew off the beach during the winter monthsWe mainly go fishing just before dark around 4pm to 9pm We use whole pilly in a two hook rig with a star sinker We go to wanda/stanwell down south newport/curlcurl up north Goodluck
Loco Mofo Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Seems to be a whole lot of salmon around and not much else when ive been hitting the northern beaches the last month or two. I still catch the odd fat bream inbetween, but the tailor have really dried up for me. Could just be unlucky, but a few months back all i could catch was tailor.
Guest no one Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 The Tailor are around, but as you say quite thin - mainly found them in the bays and rivers not on the ocean side - then again there have been a couple of reports of tailor hitting on the troll.
