Hi Raiders,

I came across this Youtube video this morning on setting the drag. It's a British production, but the basic physics apply. I'd recommend this to those new to fishing, although I must admit, I learned a thing or two myself from watching this. See what you think. https://youtu.be/u-1EZ6BrtJA

Great video Nursie , I always set my drag using a weight scale . It was something a mate of mine showed me a while back when I first got into deep Warter fishing . But it never crossed our minds that our drags setting would totally change after 1/2 a spool of line .... I'll have to cacth up with my old mate & show him that . Thanks for posting it ....

Interesting perception on setting the drag pressure. Reputable tackle shop i frequent says to rip the line from the spool when measuring. Peter Pakula says walking pace in his instructional vid's, and this gentleman measures when the line starts to creep from the spool.

The increase of pressure on the emptying spool was pretty cool to learn about. Cheers!

Thanks for sharing. Pretty obvious when you think about the maths but I hadn't come up with it independently.

I had a double take when I saw the presenter. Pretty sure I met and spoke with him on a demo 7 or 8 years ago in the UK.

Wow, small world Salty,

I liked his presentation style. Easy to understand, and didn't talk down. The workshop looked tiny in the video, though. But he he seems to be able to utilise the space really well. I went looking for formulae to try and work out how to arrive at accurate drag pressures at different spool capacities, but couldn't find any. His method is simpler and much more to the point.
