mattyhatty90 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hey guys, Tried fishing bass and Flinders Point in Cronulla to not much avail. I was told it was a good winter spot for Trevally and Tailor. Basically been fishing off the cliff edge to the right of the point down wooden stairs. I just wanted advice on best times, does tide matter, run in or out? Also what rig and where to cast? Using a size 3 sinker above the swivel with leader with pilly,is that ok? Also do I cast in the reeds or out into the deeper water? Sorry for all the questions just tried everything I can think with no results.
mattyhatty90 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 I should of guessed so. Any ideas on land based areas for Trevally and Tailor?
NaClH2OK9 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I'd fish the bait above the sinker there. It's a bit weedy. Better spot is keep walking round to salmon haul. Then along beach and over the rocks nearer the fence of the fisheries.
mattyhatty90 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Awesome i will give that a shot next time I'm out
Mr Squidy Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Hi Matty, The guys that do well there fish it at night with pilchard baits under casting floats fitted with glow sticks to see the bite and attract attention. See them all the time going past in the boat, especially in summer. Went down just to have a look one night a few years back and one group of guys had a good 6 or 7 solid tailor on the deck so it clearly can produce at times. Seems you need a long rod to really power out a cast a fair distance, ideally out past the starboard marker just to the east of the ledge. Cheers R
