nbdshroom
Gday Raiders, Back on the Cooks with Stewy on this pleasant day and boy was it a good session. There was plenty of fish around today and it was hard to keep track of all the catches. First stop, Stewy's lure gets annihilated by a fantastic jew. The 5-8kg rod buckled under the pressure from the strike and from then on, it was a tense tug of war. Finally after some tense minutes the fish of the day - 90 cm mulloway, comes up. It was the fish he had been looking for, and it was good to see him come up trumps. Well done mate. We move off to the next stop, and now it was my turn. I felt a tick in the line and came up hard to some weight. During the fight, I had all kinds of excuses, calling it everything from a salmon to a trevally as I fought the fish. Luck was on my side today, and up pops another nice jew. High fives all around, we contemplate heading back to the ramp having ticked off the box for what we came for - not a chance! We make our way upriver again and once again Stewy hooks up to another stonking jew. After a few more tense moments, the fish came up and into the net it went. This was the third and that would be the last one for the day but at this point, he must have been feeling like a million bucks. We spent the rest of the session relaxed and catching more fish - from big tailor, to salmon, big bream and countless flatties. It was good to see Stewy getting his first salmon up the Cooks river, which had never happened to him before in all the years he had fished it. I guess you learn something everyday! We also ran into a couple of gentlemen - Ken (Bad Santa) and Gordon. It was nice to meet you guys and I hope you caught plenty of fish. Overall, it was a top day out and surely one that won't be forgotten for a long time yet. Thanks for reading.

Guest
To all the new people looking to get into this type of fishing....it looks easy but I tell you we made a thousand casts to get those 3 jewies and we could have easily went home after we got one each but we wanted to fish all day and that's what drives me at least. Landbased is almost impossible for this type of fishing but some do it but I don't know how. Knowledge of the waterway and tides and moon phases are always followed and if you look back through the years from some of my other posts you will see the similarities ALWAYS!!!! Plenty on this site do this type of fishing and more and more are joining in. 3 things I see are paramount BOAT WITH ELECTRIC MOTOR/DECENT GEAR/BEING SHOWN AT LEAST ONCE
