Brendan_G
Hello Raiders, Lately I have been venturing down to the eastern side of the swimming pool at Clontarf beach flicking SP's and baits but have only caught very small flathead and baby breams of a drop off at high tide. So I have finally decided I am going to venture to the western side of the marina with some soft plastics and bait to see what I can catch. I will be fishing with light tackle so does anyone know what species are around there and if it is very deep of shallow because i would love to catch a couple of flatties and is there a possibility of whiting? Any info would be much appreciated Cheers Edited July 8, 2015 by Brendan_G
Mike89
I do know there have been some whiting at odd times around Balmoral lately, only little guys but they are about!
OldMateJon
Clontarf has a pretty steep drop off just metres from the shore all along the beach. It'll hold an array of good fish, I've seen flathead, bream, bonnies, salmon and jew caught off there. I'd recommend grabbing a light metal such as a gillies 10 or 15gram and walking the beach spinning early in the morning or on dusk. For plastics again just keep moving, never stay in the same spot unless your getting onto the fish.
