Yowie
Woke early and checked the weather forecast, for winds less than 10 knots at Kurnell, which it actually was, but when I checked Bellambi weather, the wind gusts were cracking 30 knots before dawn. What happened there? By the time I left home, put the boat in and headed out of the Port just before sun rise, the wind was blowing from the north less than 10 knots. O.K. for flattie drifting, so gave it a go. The wind stayed like that for an hour, then it dropped to almost nothing for a little while, and the drift stopped. Then the wind suddenly picked up from the west, the drift was too fast and there were white horses blowing along some of the waves. Somewhere near 20 knots, that was not forecast, made for a bumpy ride back into the Port. Pulled out the 7 flatties, not much over the size limit, and threw back many undersized ones. At least some fresh flattie fillets, blue spots and tigers.

fragmeister
Same story for menthis morning. Went over to Long Reef today on less than a meter of swell but just after dawn up came the wind. The forecast promised me light winds... Not fair! You did better than I did in the fishing department though. cheers Jim
adamski
Well done on bagging a feed mate. I know what you mean about the forecast- I checked last weekend and the wind was predicted at 10 knots for most of the day, with highs of around 15. Got there and my casts were getting blown at a right angle and there were white horses on the waves! I imagine it's even worse on a boat... GreyNurse
I went for an predawn session at Wally's Wharf yesterday. Same wind conditions. A couple of boats launched to head down to Belambi for some snapper. Meanwhile, back at the wharf, I was berleying up some really good looking bream, blackfish and a few I couldn't ID, but you think that they would take an unweighted piece of pillie, or fisho? Not a chance. Left at 10.30 with a 15-20 knot wind blowing my lines everywhere and boat traffic starting to get busy.
