My favourite outfit for bottom bashing is a Shimano charter special. Lever drag and level wind with 50lb braid. have a couple of rods but something reasonably solid with a lightish tip. Mine are early model silstar but plenty of others around to choose from.

Never ending question, I change all the time... Recently went from heavier gear to lighter gear, but then something different happens on a trip and you want your heavy gear back....

main 2 at the moment are a Br4500 (15kg braid) on Sakana 6-10kg composite rod and a Thunnus 4000 (10kg Braid) on a Lox 6510FG, rod is actually a micro jigging type rod, but action and weight are great for fishing that 40m area and it doubles and a great rod for floating baits!

Water 20-80m I use a a flueger contender loaded with 20lb braid on a 6-8kg silstar power tip rod. Very light outfit can use it all day day, i find it perfect for flatties, morwong, chinamen jackets etc. In deeper water I use a okuma catalina 30lb braid custom rod, deeper water bigger fish more lead. But find this outfit overkill for shallow water.

Any small overhead reel with level wind will do, always with braid

7' Ugly Stick gold, heavy action. 20 Lb braid on Okuma Raw 14 spinning reel. The long butt makes a big difference with weight on. Myself and my wife use these in 40-50m and find them very nice.
