Cargo05
Although there is a long way to go in the 5th Test our top order batsmen are finally showing some bottle, even if both Rogers (43), and Warner (85), could have gone on having made a good start. Perhaps getting all of the dirty laundry out in the open has helped. I would think that the players have also been given an ultimatum, and not before time. It will be interesting to see what the new look team, including Management, Coaching Staff, and Selectors, will look like. Out of the disaster some good, for the future of Australian cricket, will result. Siddle is an interesting inclusion. While he bowls good line and length, and gives his all, his selection is contradictory to Lehmann’s comments about giving youth a go. The Selectors should also be held accountable for the blunders thus far. Perhaps Shane Warne, who has been very vocal in his criticism of the selectors during the Ashes campaign, could step up. Not sure if Warner is the correct choice as Vice-Captain though. He seems to have a loose connection somewhere between his brain and mouth. Time will tell if he can learn to let his bat do the talking. As a Nation we have come to expect our cricket team to be winners and it is very disappointing to see them go down with barely a whimper. A draw in the 5th Test, or better still a win, would give some credibility to the scorecard. Totally agree with Nursie’s comments regarding one day and T20. Whilst many spectators like the continuous action of the short game format, traditional cricket has paid the price. Our players seem to have forgotten how to build an innings, and to see off the new ball.
