jeffb5.8
Hi I have a 25hp Johnson it's a 1982 or 1983 model. Last week when I was out I noticed a fair amount of steam was coming out the exhaust ports while at full throttle. The engine pumps plenty of water and was running well, not sure if it was just because I haven't used it for 4 months or maybe cause the water was freezing cold. (Syd Harbour) I check the compression when I got home and it was reading 130 on each cylinder (2 cylinder) I also notice oil (assuming 2 stroke) leaking from between these two parts. Question 1. Is that 130psi compression good 2. Steam from exhaust ports where it also spits water at the rear normal? Or is it a head gasket thing? 3. The oil leaking is there meant to be a gasket? Twinfisher 4.9
Sorry, but after 33 years......it is now called an anchor. Drain fuel before deploying.
amkr
Compression is a funny thing, you'll Likely never see 2 meters read the same The most important thing is that both cylinders are close
jeffb5.8
Sorry, but after 33 years......it is now called an anchor. Drain fuel before deploying. Really it made it up and down the river without even a missfire. I was happy the compression was within 2 psi of each other.
jeffb5.8
Might put the auxiliary motor on just in case. Save me rowing home.
