fisholb
Took my mate and his kids to clifton hoping to get stuck on some fish. What a very disappointing day. Got there around 9am. Only half a dozen fishos. Not a very good sign. The parking was very expensive. $7 per hour or $25 for the day. told my mate just to park the car on top but opted to pay the $25. Anyway rigged the rods with floats squid jig paternoster and ganged hooks. Got chicken n pillys for bait. One fisho caught a big salmon on pillys so there were high hopes. My mate never caught a salmon before. Another fisho caught a good size flatty on prawns. In the next 3hrs we didnt get even a single bite. Tried and did everything for nothing. The worst thing was the divers keep on coming and stayed under the wharf basically when we were fishing. I wasn't impressed at all. After 3hrs we decided to packed up and check one of the ferry wharfs if we can get stuck on some yakkas for the sake of the kids. Fished the wharf for one hour with no success. Felt sorry for my mate kids. They were really keen on catching something. On the way home my mate told his kids that they wont be fishing for a while. I felt sad when I heard it coz I was hoping I will be getting new recruits. Anyway thats fishing. Thanks for reading. Krispy !
If they want constant action take them out in summer mate, other than that the fish are real picky, try fishing unweighted with light line and that should make a big difference especially now in winter

BigRod
Krispy is 100% right there the fish can be real picky even the squid pealed hawksbury prawns with a squirt of ultrabite works really well tackle wise use a size 6 hook on a 6lb -10 trace if you need to add weight add a split shot to your main line , also fish the right side of the there is a nice hole there that produces some nice bream and trevors fishing the end of the wharf is usually where you will find the people that are there for the Jew's and kings with the big rods and live bait .if you you go there in summer it can produce some really good fish but can also get very crowded
