Cooks River Landbased Flick

Had a poor run this winter at my regular haunts. Thinking of giving the Cooks a Jam tomorrow, maybe walk down from Steel Park to Tempe flicking hardbodies/blades/softies. Does anyone do this? Is it worth a shot? Any pointers would be much appreciated! (heart not set on cooks either, if anyone can point me to a good walk thats producing at the mo)

Hey mate,

I've been fishing the Cooks a lot recently, not far from the areas you mentioned, and the bread and butter species are definitely there. I've caught most fish towards the top and bottom of the tide as the current slows down a little. Generally casting upstream and bringing SPs back down has produced more than bringing the lure up against the current. Look for snags and structure and cast around there.

Good luck!
