NaClH2OK9 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) 4 September 2014 Fullerton Cove and Upper Tilligerry Creek The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) Fisheries has issued a precautionary closure of commercial and recreational fishing and oyster harvest for up to one month in both Fullerton Cove and the Upper Tilligerry Creek, following a contamination issue caused by fire-fighting foams used at the Williamtown Royal Australian Air Force Base, near Newcastle. The taking of all fish and shellfish (including oysters, mussels, cockles, crabs and prawns etc.) is now prohibited in these areas (see pink shaded area in the maps below). Fisheries experts have been deployed as part of the response and are providing advice and support to EPA on a range of issues. DPI Fisheries and the NSW Food Authority have commenced sampling of fish and oysters for testing today. Fishers are reminded to follow all directions relating to these temporary fishing closures. http://us5.campaign-archive1.com/?u=e278e4fb9bffcca807fdcd7fb&id=e22411057f&e=fbc8365cd9 Edited September 4, 2015 by NaClH2OK9
Scratchie Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Great spot that upper tilligerry creek especially from a yak! Lots of oyster leases there, so I hope it didn't do too much damage!
NaClH2OK9 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Jeff. I was going to put tilligerry in the title but I'm unable to edit from my phone.
