Hi All,

Hope you are all having a great week so far! I am planning to go around sydney harbour (land based) this weekend and was wondering the closest place (with a nearby parking spot) to catch yakkas? Could someone kindly give me the spot / direction? I will be fishing near the harbour bridge, but do not mind travelling a bit to get some yellow tail.

Your input would be highly appreciated :) thanks guys!

Greenwich, Balmoral.

Balmoral is pretty reliable for yellowtail. Often you just get the biggish ones though, not sure what you're chasing with them but occasionally I can't get any good bait-sized smaller ones.

Thanks Mike. Chasing King fish. If you cant get the smaller ones, I usually keep a bigger one and fillet it. That way, you still have FRESH bait Could you be a bit more specific where in Balmoral or Greenwich has a good structure? Thanks.

yellowtail should be a back up livey mate, just inside middle head on either side there is good squid grounds, yellowtail can be found at all the spots mentioned just burley hard they will find you

Hi Jay,

Most of the land based spots worth targeting Kings will have structure and live bait... that's why the kings are there!

Like the boys say just burley up and they will come around.

Balmoral off the wharf on the left of the public baths (no fishing off the baths there but the wharf is ok).

Greenwich same sort of deal, the wharf and around the boat ramp presumably. Not first hand experience here but I have a mate who fishes there all the time.
