Camo1808 Posted September 16, 2015 Posted September 16, 2015 Hey raiders. I have recently moved to toukley which is about a 100m walk from canton beach near toukley (tuggerah lakes for those non coasties) everytime i have been driving along the lake to work i have been thinking to myself about trying for some muddies as i have snagged one or two off a rod there oncr before. I have done my research on here and i came accross an article that said it is permitted but that was 2007 and i know things change. So my first question is am i able to use witches hats in tuggerah lakes does anyone know? Secondly what baits are best to be used. And thirdlt i was just going to walk the yak down before work (6amish) and pick it up after work (7pmish) now is it best to do it this way or the other way around so drop it arvo and leave overnight and pick up in the morning. Also is there any preferred tides or moons that i should aim for?? Cheers Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
boattart Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Witches hats are ok for Blue swimmers but if you're leaving a muddie in one for a prolonged period of time there'll be a tangled unusable mess when you get back. As for individual areas and legalities you can find info on the DPI website but I'm not familiar with that area.
golf_fish Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 I don't think you can use them near the bridge, but the DPI website will give you exact locations of we're you're not allowed. As for bait, absolutely anything. Mullet chunks and slabs work really well, but so do left over prawns heads and old bait and last nights leftover spaghetti....... They're not all that fussy It's up to you how long you leave it for, but I wouldn't leave it over night. A lot of stories around that gear goes missing over night and all you're left with is a bit of rope and a foam ball!! It's never happened to me, but ive never left anything out over night in the lakes. The creeks on the other hand.............
