Hi raiders

I had been eyeing out Saturday all week, it was the perfect combination of swell and tide to go pigging.

Went to my usual spot at south coogee, as I'm walking down, joggers looking at me like I'm crazy for going fish in this crapping weather, and I look back at them like they're crazy for jogging in it haha.

Any how my suspicions were confirmed landing 4 good pigs...

Will get pics up soon.

Well done on picking the right conditions and following through. Its always tricky getting enough swell to create the wash they like but not too much to make it dangerous.

Well done mate! I went to fish coogee once...was not the best report :P ... even though it was of the beach. May I ask how you got to the rocks?

I climbed down. You should go for a scout around at high tide and have a look where you can and can't access. I say high tide so you don't become trapped between tides.

Coogee beach produces more towards the centre of the beach. Last time I was there, between me and the fisho next to me, there was bream. Whiting, flathead and salmon caught. All on pilchard, bar the whiting on blood worm

Great bag of pigs mate those are some tasty looking fillets for sure

They sure we're tasty...I think me needs to invest in a good filleting knife, that's pretty much all I do with my fish these days.

What's the proposed recipe for those fillets harry??? They sure look tasty?

They were dusted with flour and fried last night. It was more awesome than awesome...knowing that the fish were alive less than 12 hours before...

Fishos are spoilt when it comes to freshness of seafood.

These are rock black fish, or more commonly known as black drummer... The black fish I belive you are referring to are luderick

Nice catch Harry. I'm looking for some new species to chase. You basically use luderick gear to get them?

I"m pretty near to Coogee, maybe I should give it a bash some time.

Definitely not luderick gear. Generally people fish 3-4kg for luderick. The lightest I'd go for pigs (black drummer) personally is 10kg line, my rod is a little lighter at 8kg and I use an alvey. You probably can fish 6-8kg and you will get some legal models, but big boys will sort you out real quick.

Big boys like this. This one is off a mates instagram

They are big boys! I didn't realise the size of them in the first photo.

What baits do you use?
