Hi All,

Just stumped on this one if someone can help me out please.

I have a 5.2 Savage Escort, and I plan to head out through the heads tomorrow and was wondering because I know the amount you can take outside is different to inside am I OK to take out 4 adults and one child 10 years old?

_{You should have got a sticker with your rego which is supposed to be displayed on the boat which shows the carrying capacity. In any case I wouldn't take that many out in a 5.2m boat, personally.}

Generally what ever the boat is class for so mine is 7 people. I can take 7 people in inshore waters and 6 offshore. Children count as 1/2 a person. Offshore is normally less 1 person.

Or you can look at the plate on the boat it will say the allowable weight for total amount of people. On average 75kg per person plus an allowance of say 15kg for gear.

Hey Geoff,

As mentioned, check your plate. The conditions should be ok for you tomorrow. I'll be out on the water too mate, so any hassles ring me. But just remember that up here in the arvos we get those n/e winds. So be aware of them and head back in via mrs murphy!

Could anyone please tell me what size life jacket I need for a 10 year old please??

I have a small one for my nephew to wear but looks a bit small and I don't wanna get in trouble.

Pfd 1 for every one on board if going past headlands,

PFD level 50+ for enclosed waters, level 100+ for open waters. I would stick with level 100+ for safety in any case, plus avoids any debates with the authorities as to what constitutes 'open waters'.

For children jackets are rated on body weight. Your PFD should have a label indicating the minimum and maximum body weight it is rated for.

I think, we have some auto inflate, top rated life jackets, I would do a great price on.......Stewy knows about them, aparantley they didn't fit him!
