the1thatgotaway Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Decided at the last minute to go out and spend a few relaxing hours on the water last night. Got to the boat ramp at about 6:45pm and still had to queue up to get the boat in the water. Had a drift in the river and caught a little reddie that went straight back in. Changed drifts and got closer to the sand bar - about 10 meters away, and I see a boat heading up the channel in my direction. Here I am 10m from the sand and about 50 meters from the other shoreline. There is only one place that boat can go right?, where else but in between me and the sandbar. OK so we have to allow for one weekend warrior. Think again. In the next 20 minutes, doing the same drift, I had 3 more fools go on the outside of me, remember 50 odd meters to navigate, and the last one was no more than 3 rod lengths away from me when he passed me. And then I remembered why I haven't fished on the river on weekends for the last 15 or so years. I hope that all the raider members here show a bit more courtesy to their fellow fishos and if you are one of the "pass as close to the boat" brigade, next time you go out think how you would feel about someone passing 3 meters beside you, or worse, behind you when you have your lines out. After that I changed spots in to a bigger bay and relaxed for another 4 hours without a bite, but much calmer.
The Incredible Hull Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 I was out Saturday early morning, in a large bay catching yakkas. 1 boat comes in the bay, out of the enormous bay twice the size of the MCG, this guy decides to drive right past me... looking for bait. If he anchored in my burley trail then I would have given him some lip, but he anchored 20-30m from me which was ok. Welcome to SUMMER! =( Just like hoons the road, you can't beat em all...
fisho.sid Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Mate I had the same thing occurring to me. It was annoying but luckily nothing happened to my lines. Don't get it, you're hugging the shore, there is like 200 meters of open water and yet they still want to come cruising up your noise. Oh well - no point in getting angry
