The Incredible Hull Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 Hey raiders, Does anyone know if there's some sort of safety clip, that we can attach to the rod, whilst it is in the rod holder? You know just in case the rod holder snaps or some other circumstance the rod comes out, are there any products that you can attach to the rod on 1 side and attach the other side somewhere to your boat? amkr Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 You're talking about lanyards. Easy to make yourself - buy some paracord and some small clips or carabiner. Tie one end to the boat and one end to the clip, clip it around the reel (where it mounts to the rod) and you're done. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
boattart Posted October 19, 2015 Share Posted October 19, 2015 There are several pre made products on the market mainly for game rods so they are quite heavy duty and longer than you would need for say Snapper fishing. I make my own up to the length I need them and have a couple of different types and lengths depending what type of fishing I am doing. Another option if you aren't talking heavy tackle is a surf board or boogie board leg rope. The pre Coiled ones are out of the road meaning you don't have 5-10 ft of rope around your feet and being plastic they clean easy and wont absorb blood or bait and smells.
