Agent X Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 In all my hurriedness to leave the house this morning, I left the digicam on my desk... After blanking out on the 4wt yesterday morning, I decided to bring out the #7 (and a baitcasting rod just in case ) With only about 6-7metres of back room, I was lucky to get 15 on my casts. First fly in the water was a Whistler variant tied bendback style with large beadchain eyes (I usually use this for Lizards but was testing to see if its good for other things). After 25mins or so, I tied on a Camou-fibre Clouser (given to me by a fly-shop owner in Singapore that was very effective in the Maldives). Another 25mins go by... I proceeded leftwards to a small cove and began casting, there was more back room so the loops were sped-up and tightened. I was using small strips with frequent pauses to no effect, and decided to reel in the line. As I was reeling, the fly got slammed... the 'take' ended 2 months of fly-fishing drought The fish that came in wasnt big, it only measured 25cm, but was good enough to bring a smile to my face... besides there were some people watching on their boats and I hoped that they realised that the crazy fella waving a long stick and thick line had a method to his madness I promptly switched to quick long strips with the odd double-handed retrieve thrown in once in a while. In the next 25mins, another specimen (abt 22cm) was brought in with 3 more misses... And I called it a day... -X-
crystalliser Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 hey hey mr Agent X, well done! though I don't understand a single bit on fly fishing terms but you've proved that our playground can be fished in all sorts of ways, or was it on another ground mate?

Guest madsmc Posted October 3, 2005 Posted October 3, 2005 besides there were some people watching on their boats and I hoped that they realised that the crazy fella waving a long stick and thick line had a method to his madness Ah yes, after today's effort I know exactly how this feels. A park half full of people watching some guy wave a big stick in the air . Congrats on breaking the drought X, I'm hoping to extend my fly horizons to tailor and the like when I can cast a bit better. Like you said, crazy guy with the big stick . Shane
