unusual bycatch in the harbour.

Went out with dan today chasing the blackfish.

Bait used was weed and cabbage.

I got the first hookup and pulled a sizeable doctor from the blackfishes mouth when the hook pulled.

Dan was on next and after a spirited fight he pulled the hook when lifting the fish out of the water.

Dan landed the next blackfish.

then the sugeons moved in with dan getting bitten off just before he could land it.

About ten minutes later we got a double hook up on surgeons after a few minutes dan got bitten off and mine made it too structure.

We got a few more blackfish each in the net.

Half hour before we left my float went down like a normal bite but when i felt weight the fish ran differently to a surgeon or blackfish wanting to take long runs and turning trying too find structure.

After a few minutes i had him on top and noticed the colour and markings on the fish and put him on the deck.

dan and i both thought it was a parrot fish but we both were not 100 % certain.

Released him after a few photos.

packed up and kept 7 blackfish cleaning them in the pouring rain.

Only got photos of the unusual bycatch.

If anyone can identify for me would be appreciated.

It was tricky. There are a lot of colour morphs from juvenile to adult.

& Male and female.

From what I can see very unusual catch here.

I've not checked but imagine it's a first on the Raiders record table

Yeah i just submitted it as a record.

From what i read and the size they can reach this one went hard on the luderick gear so i imagine the bigger models are pretty hard to stop.
