brad_tate Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Hi Raiders, headed out this morning with my wife, son and daughter-in-law for what was to be a pleasant morning on Botany Bay. In the water at Oatley Bay 0630, headed out with a little bit of light rain, but fairly calm. Rounded Towra, stayed to the south whilst the last of the drizzle swept over then headed to pick up some Yakkas inside Mollie Pt. As soon as we had anchored and started berleying however, a fairly strong southerly blew up as a squall came over. It got pretty ugly pretty quick. Decided to scratch plan A and head back inside the bay. The waters off Mollie Pt were like a washing machine by now, and the ride back across the bay was bumpy and wet. Back inside Towra it settled down so we drifted the main channel back towards Captain Cook bridge. The pinkies were on the bite so at least everyone had some fun. My son pouched a 29cm Bream and I latched on to a 56 cm rat Kingie - good fun on bream gear! The Bream was kept for the table but the Kingie swam away after a happy snap. Not long after another squall came over and it got ugly again. This one was looking like settling in for an hour or so, so we called it a day. Anyone else out this morning? Any luck? mattfinn Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Went out Squiding at JB green patch side. Southerly was killing it there too but we still managed a good feed of squid. Good to see you managed a feed and a decent session even with poor conditions. That kingie would've given you a whole lotta curry! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
juzz318 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 (edited) Took the Yak out to Mooney Mooney today and encountered the same ugliness there also. When the wind kicked in at some points i was basically paddling for no gain and sitting in one spot. Good to hear you guys still got a good feed though. Edited December 28, 2015 by juzz
Fab1 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Good on you for braving the conditions,I bet there's a whole heap of holiday makers cursing the weather.I've wanted to get out myself the last few days but decided against it due to the poor weather we've had.
General Zod Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Drove past Botany Bay mid dayish and white caps everywhere, and about 4 trailers parked. Ur lucky you made it out cause it stayed around for a while. We ended going to middle harbour for a fish not many options with the wind we had today.
