Kingie Hunter Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 G'day guys headed out to magenta beach this evening fished from 5:30 to about 11:30pm in hope for a Jew but no jewies as it was a bit rough and plenty of seaweed. But managed 5 fat whitings and a bream. Has anyone ever caught jewies off this beach??
Crossfire63 Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I've caught heaps of Jewies off that beach but not that far Nth. We usually fish further south towards The Entrance
VE11AC Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Hi I have been there once and caught 4 X salmon on Pillies
Kingie Hunter Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Yeah crossfire further south towards the entrance is good but I try to escape the crowd too much people VE11AC yes there is plenty of salmon there especially on the sunset
RexSenior Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 Well done on the Whiting and Bream. I stayed a couple of nights at Magenta Shores for a mini honeymoon a few years back, spewin' I didn't take the rods however I thought it may have been pushing it in the first few days of marriage. Not sure if it's still the case however the shoreline was up and down and the gutters along there were as deep as I've seen off any beach, is it like that all the time? Cheers for the post I've always wondered what the fishing would be like there.
Kingie Hunter Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Hey Rex senior yeah water is unbelievably deep there great here for bream whiting and salmon however I've only fished it once for jewies with no luck cause of seaweed. But will keep trying that spot it does have potential
tjp29 Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Are the Salmon still around the beach? I went for a walk along it on Saturday morning and there were some very nice gutters all along it. Well done on the bream and whiting, hoping to go chase some soon.
Kingie Hunter Posted January 3, 2016 Author Posted January 3, 2016 Yeah mate seen heaps of people catch salmon there Friday spewing I had no rod though
RexSenior Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Hi Again This post twisted my arm so I went for a look today. Didn't have much time however caught a few worms and fished for a bit over an hour for 2 whiting around 35cm. I went to the first carpark after the Magenta sign heading towards The Entrance. The sweep right to left was crazy and big clumps of weed. In saying that I'm happy with the result and the tide was dead low and just starting to rise so I reckon if you worked a few holes you would do great around high tide!
Farvos Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 ive been busted off twice by a monster flatties in 300mm of water. big ocean bream and salmon to.
Koalaboi Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 Hi, The first car park after the Magenta sign, I assume you're heading south, is a good spot for theft unfortunately. I was there this time of year a few years ago at 1.00pm in the afternoon, nice sunny day and came back to find my car, and every other car had been broken into. I suggest that next time you try, turn in at the Magenta Resort. When the Local and Council sold the land to developers, one clause in the sale was guaranteed public access to the beach. If you drive to the end of the driveway there's a car park which sees security patrols pass by. I have had the best beach fishing ever there so give it a go. KB
