Fab1 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Bought this Spotlight recently in the spare of the moment to replace my broken one but since read the 500lumen version has issues with the trigger failing.Mines the 750lumen version and am guessing it uses the same switch. Is there someone that has tried these lights and had issues?I used mine the other week at Windang and it worked great(for now). Thanks.
The Incredible Hull Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Hi Fab, I have that exact same one. It's a great torch, extremely bright and shoots very far. The only downside, because I use it for fishing, the salt water (even tho I do not get it wet) eventually gets inside the torch. I used it for 3-4 years until the back rechargable plug sort of snapped and fell inside the torch, due to the salt water weaking the plastic. Then tried to unscrew the torch, to realise the screws are all rusted. Drilled the screws out. Got the plug out, am able to charge it now, so its still working. Its a great torch but yer, salt water will destroy anything you buy.

You'll find just the salt laden air does a lot of damage and will corrode electrical terminals in electronics.I've since learned as that was the death of my last spotlight and have dismantled and rust proofed this one as best as I can using silicon spray on all contacts and fitted an adjustable lanyard I made out of a shoe lace as I'm sure you will agree that's one of the things lacking.Guys proberbly think I go to extremes(it's just a torch) but for the whole 10min out of my life i lost I think it's more than worth the extra life out of the unit if any and shouldn't loose it overboard without me attached to the end.Cheers.
locodave Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Hey mate, I had one of these and yes the trigger does fail. You will squeeze it and no light will appear. Eventually it died but lasted at least 3 years for me which was good enough. I haven't been able to find an alternate just as food yet.
