The Incredible Hull Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Hi Raiders, I'm taking the family to up to Woy Woy for the Australia day weekend, we've rented a house up there, the backyard has a jetty and a nice channel of water. I was going to put my girls on some small "pink" rods, maybe small pieces of prawn in hopes to get them onto some bream, keep them happy! Are their any larger species in these channels? I was thinking of maybe flicking SP's in high hopes of a jewie! Also are there any blue swimmers in this system? PM's welcomed! Cheers and thanks in advanced! Dave.
marks1984 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Dave we have got heaps of bream, flathead, tailor even salmon up pattys channel a few crabs are around in fact my younger brother pick up a blue swimmer on a SP last weekend in front of the club at Ettalong. good luck
The Incredible Hull Posted January 15, 2016 Author Posted January 15, 2016 Awesome thanks for the info, looking forward to it!
quochuy Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 You can also catch nice size blackfish and yakkas for bait. I think some people have caught jewfish from the bridge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
golf_fish Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Brissy Waters is a brilliant place to fish mate, I love the area.... I can't remember the exact amount, but I've caught somewhere around 35 different species in there myself. Without knowing exactly where you'll be saying it's hard to say what you're likely to catch, but the good old prawn will work wonders in there on just about every spieces. Don't be afraid to use some breed either, not just brilliant for burley, but also an underrated bait....... Good luck and enjoy the weekend mate....
The Incredible Hull Posted January 16, 2016 Author Posted January 16, 2016 I'm down the road from the bridge. The house I'm staying at has a nice grassy area behind it where the kiddies can run around, and there's multi jettys along the water line, pretty cool! Thanks for the tips guys, I'm confident on putting the little ones on some fish, hopefully they get the fishing addiction bug!
quochuy Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 If u have prawning gears u can get good livies between the wharf and the boat ramp at lions park Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Incredible Hull Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 Does anyone know if you get any squid inside these channels?
MJGough Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) I have pulled some good Flatties and Bream out from under the road and rail bridges, both sides are good to fish. Plenty of little baby snapper and bream for the kids too. Coming from Gosford way, just turn off the main road and walk down under the bridge, go across the cycle path to reach the other side. Great spot to take the kids, I always take my 6 year old there with me. Plenty of people have pulled big Jewies out from under the bridge too. If you keep going past the bridge into woy woy, take your first left and follow the water, theres a netted pool with a good Wharf for fishing, Bream and flattie there, Salmon sometimes too, caught a barracuda there myself a few weeks back. Further up the same road you can fish the inlet/outlet to the big water if you have the gear. Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk Edited January 19, 2016 by MJGough

The Incredible Hull Posted January 30, 2016 Author Posted January 30, 2016 Hey mate, yer it was awesome! I pretty much was fishing off the private jetty behind the house. Caught like 11 different species! Bream, Pinkies, Flathead, Port Jackson shark, croc long tom (it went over 1m), Jewie (went about 60cm), Leather Jackets, Flounder, sting ray, Whiting, Eel and blue swimmer. They were all caught on prawns! Some were banana prawns and some were small hawkesbury type prawns. Was an awesome weekend, met some nice locals too. Think I'll take the boat up next time!
