hydropassion
Hi All, I am thinking about powering an older Reef Ranger with a pretty new Yamaha 100DET 4 stroke. Some say it will be sufficiently powered while others suggested a 150 at minimum. Would love to hear opinion from others who have been in a similar situation. thanks, Jeff
Blairy
Hi mate I have a 166 Cruise Craft Reef Raider also a Cuddy Cabin - great sea boat and I recently re powered to 115 Yamaha Salt water series 2 stoke (could not afford the 4 stroke) and it hums along - recently towed the kids down at Sussex up to 60kms per hour on the biscuit. I think the Reef Ranger is a foot and half bigger so a 115 would be fine - probably have to weigh up how often you take her out to determine whether you need to bigger motor (fuel economy may be better as the bigger motor won't be working as hard)? Good luck Blairy
hydropassion
Thanks Blairy. I'm happy just pushing along at 20 knots so I'll see how she goes. I'm in Cairns so the reef is pretty close and the 4 stroke should be pretty economical.. time will tell
