Guest Guest123456789
Hi Raiders, Can anyone suggest good trim tabs for a 4.2 tiller steer tinnie with a 40hp on the back? Cheers. Luke
Croydon
Hi Luke, I think trim tabs would be a bit of overkill on a 4.2 tinney. Perhaps a sand bag or similar weight to adjust around the boat would do the trick. What's the boat doing which makes you think you need them?? Cheers....Dave
Guest Guest123456789
Thanks Croyden, I haven't picked it up yet it's being shipped from factory. Just worried that a 100kg engine plus a battery, fuel tank and me at the stern is going to have trim issues given the hull weighs only 200kg. The bow will have another battery, electric motor plus fuel, water and safety gear so hopefully it will balance out. Sandbag is a good idea for extra ballast - thanks. Croydon
No worries. If it's propped right with a suitable horse power motor, set at the correct height, you shouldn't have any issues other than moving the weight around within the boat to suit your load and conditions. Hope you enjoy the new rig. Cheers...........Dave
recurve
You def should not need Trim Tabs on a boat that size. In my experience they are good on larger boats with Hard Tops to counter the wind and push of water on one side. In serious wind they do a great job

Guest Guest123456789
Thanks Croydon, The dealer was able to swap motors for me. Getting a 30hp Suzuki 2 stroke instead of a Vortex 40HP 2 stroke. Looks like a very common set up for the rampage and 30kgs lighter so I should be ok. Problem is I'm 90kgs and I'll have a bit of gear on the boat. As you said I'll just move weight around hopefully she planes ok.
