sam bros
HI Raiders, Just a quick report. Went for a beach fishing session yesterday, fished sunset and high tide. Caught a couple salmon and tailor at sunset, I filleted them and used the tailor as a slab bait in the hope for a jew. An hour before high tide, the rod goes off and on to a very big fish. Fight was characteristic of a jew, Would of easily been a PB. 10 mins into the fight, leader busted off. I was using 40lb mono. It was a very devastating moment , I quickly rigged up another another tailor and casted out. Within 5 mins I hook onto something else, but quickly realise that it is most likely a massive ray. Got it up to the waves and confirmed it was a enormous Ray. After a very long fight and a very sore back, we realised that the ray wasn't going to come in and cut the line off. Did get a 30cm bream and a couple undersized flatties on the small rod using strips of tailor. The beach was alive with fish and there were many gutters along the beach. I'll probably go again but upgrade to 60lb leader Sorry no photos as I left the phone in the car
RexSenior
Hopefully it was a jew and not a shark, worthwhile going back to find out while conditions are good! Best of luck. Cheers, James
