Are hairtail still around in numbers?

Went out yesterday night for hairtail , started fishing around 9pm at Waratah . Bait down and straight away got a good size fish . After that quiet until 1am ?

But that's fishing . Any one have any luck ??? Are they still around ????

Did you answer your own question there mate? If you picked one up straight away i would place my bet on saying that 'yes' they are still around.

Always remember, the sport is called FISHING... if you caught something every time then it would be called CATCHING!

They seem to come on about 4pm for an hour then it is on and off all night.

The ones that I've picked up have all been under schools of small tailor, once gutted, each have had 2 or 3 small tailor in them.

Find the small tailor, keep them around with burley, that will put you in with a good shot.

And if you can get a nice tailor fillet, put that on! Almost all my hairtail were caught on fillets!
