josamill
Hi - looking to set my tinny up with a bow-mount electric. Basically for stooging along the shoreline around Broken Bay and some South Coast rivers and flicking plastics. The boat is a Horizon Easy Fisher Pro (centre consol) - 4.65M with a 60hp on the back.....no more than 2 people on board when fishing. I need to watch my budget, but also need something that will work! Would really appreciate any experienced advice on minimum thrust

big Neil
Don't consider anything less than 55lb thrust for your set up mate
josamill
Thanks boys - minimum 55lb it is. I love the idea of the iPilot, but it is close to $2,000 which is a stretch. I here mixed reports around the Watersnake, but if there is a warranty, I guess it's OK.
nwatson
I'm in the market for one also. Similar set up with a Quintrex 460 Dory, 50 Etec. Is the 12 volt 55lb enough or should I go to a 24 volt. How easy are they to set up. Should I run a seperate dedicated battery at the front of the boat or utilize the main battery for the motor? Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk The MINN KOTA needs a deep cycle battery not a cold cranker and I would definitely go the 80 but that is 24 volt and needs two 100amp/hr batteries

Guest
Anderson plugs and they stand alone and you will need a 24volt charger as well

macca02
I know its tempting to go the Watersnake, as its way way cheaper....... but i'd advise against it. I have one and its alright (much better than not having an electric!), but the lack of electronic anchor is the killer for me. Have a look at the Motorguide Xi5, they're supposed to be the ducks nuts (electronic anchor better than Minn Kota, uses less battery, more responsive etc). I'm hoping to upgrade to one soon! Guest Guest123456789
For sub $2k forget the GPS enabled models. And not having GPS is kinda pointless as the whole idea of stealth fishing is to not use your outboard or anchor. Keep saving and get a GPS enabled model. Minn Kota are about to release a new ipilot model with some cool new features. By the time you have the extra $$ the new model will be out and some of the inevitable bugs fixed. chevvyy
I've got a motorguide xi5 55lb 12v 100amp seperate deep cycle on a Stacer outlaw 469 and it's been great . I use it mainly for spot lock and it has a easy to use jog feature . I think it would struggle in rough conditions , but I tend to avoid those days anyway .
