Wellzy94
Fished Wollongong beach Sunday morning, in poor weather and with poor results. Had a rod baited with worms to send out in the hopes of whiting, and while it was out I was casting metals over the breakers... Or that was the plan, anyway. Dodgy weather and rough seas made it very tough to get out past the breakers, the wind was in my face and it was a pretty big swell, so I couldn't quite make it past the waves. Started moving into almost waist-deep water to cast and put a little too much muscle (and not enough technique) into a cast, and *pop*! Metal gone. Retrieved to find my swivel had just broken in two, I was left with the top ring attached to my braid. Maybe my swivel was too small, maybe it was a poor quality, I don't know. In future I'll be learning an FG knot so I know if I lose it at the knot it's 100% my fault. Reverted to just following my baited rod, and as I walked out to re-cast in knee-deep water I felt a stinging at my feet. Quickly backed out of the water to find two bluebottles had wrapped around my legs, from the knees all the way down to around my feet. Looked across to see my partner also backing out of the water, untangling herself from her own little jellyfish problem. Promptly packed up, bolted to the nearest supermarket and bought some vinegar. The coffee shop in the complex was nice enough to give us a cup of hot water each, which we poured on our legs outside before the vinegar. Made the drive home, and wrapped our legs in cloths soaked in hot water and vinegar to combat the sting. Hope anyone else who fished yesterday had better luck! Wellzy94
It certainly was tough fishing everywhere. I was using a size#3 star sinker on my bait rig and still couldn't hold bottom, it was really rough. Cheers, Wellzy
