REELCRAZY
Quick 1.5 hour session this morning. Fished the rocks hoping for a hoodie. Rigged with 80lb leader and 50lb braid on my heavy spin outfit. Casting stickbaits and poppers. Had a recently caught dead squid under a float on a 12 foot stick with a shimano speed cast 8000 just off to the side of me. Just legal tailor first cast of the stick bait, right in first light. Big salmon on the squid after a bit. Few guys getting Bonnies and a good Mack tuna on light gear/metals. Good few bumps on the stick baits but no hook ups. Notice my rod with float and now a pillie dive off the platform into the ocean. Think about going for a swim. See the rod floating getting taken out to sea. Third cast I snag it. Retrieve rod. Land a big bonnie on recovered rod. Relief!!! good quick session, lots of activity. A bronze whaler about 3 metres length swimming on surface 5 metres off ledge as I am leaving. Lucky I did not swim after the rod! Off to tackle shop shortly for a major service of the Speedcast! Lesson learnt!!! sorry no pics today
Wellzy94
That's a lucky catch mate! Retrieving your rod while it's got a fish hooked is no mean feat. Cheers, Wellzy
big Neil
Dunno about stopping at the tackle shop, you should be stopping at the newsagents and buying a bloody lottery ticket. BN
