crystalliser
Had a little night ops tonight at IC and was trying out some new hardbodies but to no avail. Switched to the trusty 3" BM and caught a 37cm flattie by dusk. Lost another 3-4 flatties later thinking whats going wrong and decided to bring up the lure and to my astonishment, the hook was blunt! Serves me right for not double checking the jighead since it had been used over a few trips already. Anyway, decided to cast at some structures and tried to use a new retrieve method which might guarantee snags but nonetheless all was well and caught a 36cm flattie. The next cast was simply exhilarating. It made a blistering 3-4 runs and in about 2 mins fight i caught my 1st ever pb bream at 35cm! I'm stoked! OH YEAH! 2inch grub in pumpkinseed did the works A good feed

Guest madsmc
Nice set of fish there crystalliser. I'm keen to get a few afternoon sessions in now that daylight savings has started. Makes the working week seem a bit shorter. By the way, what's this new retrieve method your trying? That's if it's not a secret . Seems to be working well anyway. crystalliser
Hi Shane, Yup, the daylight savings sure work a treat for working class people. I just hit IC after 6 and it was still blardy sunny! I would've probably stayed longer if not for the bird's nest in my reel. Anyway, nothing special about the retrieve just that you'll have to be gutsy to at least think that u might lose a jig. I simply let it sink to the bottom, lower my rod to the water level and retrieve slowlyyyyy...., dragging the lure at the bottom coupled with 1 or 2 mini twitches. But once u've sussed out the terrain in the 1st few casts at the spot u've reckoned to be fishy, and if there's no snags, then continue doing only at that spot. Because I'm pretty sure if u use this retrieve method on fan casts, be prepared to lose the jig. But a tip is, be gutsy on structures, cos' that's where the fishes hang out! mr X, yeah mate, the only trusty ol' grub that we all liked. I'm running out of it soon reckon about less than half a pack left! RONALD
crystalliser
mate, i believe you guys had been there and is the la montage stretch. that explains why i need a headlamp to take a pic. i've always noticed some bust-ups activities near the foot bridge but just don't know what they are?? Had been throwing heaps of lures at it but just no hook-ups.
kevvie
well done crystalliser... nice to see quality bream in IC.... any tips for a fellow raider. Is the spot any good with a boat or is it too shallow?
crystalliser
Hi kevvie, are u refering to tips for the bust-ups surface i mentioned? well, i'm actually land-based and some of the "little" boils could be within casting distance but most would be out further but could be sighted easily near the banks. yes, in this situation, the boat would be more advantageous and i reckon in high tide it wouldn't be a problem. but don't take my word fully because i'm not a local there probably would be best to ask JD or 8foot as they are the pros there. at low tide, i've seen heaps of crap abandoned on the flats (rusty chair, wrecked furnitures, etc..) but they seem to congregate near the banks. as for the fishes, i'm not too sure what they are but high chances are either tailors or flatties chasing bait fishes. the leaping flatties there are a great sight to savour! Is the spot any good with a boat or is it too shallow? Kev, i reckon the waters might be a tad shallow as the deep water buoys are quite a distance away from shore...
