Tony Soprano
Well due to popular demand I'll post up a report for Saturday... Met up with Downriggen Dan off the site down at Snails Bay at 5am... Got everything sorted out and set off to try and locate some squid around the harbour, for no result... We then headed over towards Manly to collect a few livies. We managed to get about 10 decent bite sized yakkas and then off to Bluefish... As we rounded South Head we were greeted with a lumpy, pretty messy swell. Saw Joe and Pat on Jiggin Joe and gave them a yell on the way past... At this point Dan started to set up the downrigger, this was fine until the screws holding the rod holder in gave way, and it was only due to Dan's A-class slips catching skills that it didn't end up in the drink... With the downrigger now safely re-located to another rod holder we continued on to bluefish. However, it was about this time that the sea sickness kicked in for me. Now its not often I get sea sick, but a messy swell, no breakfast and a stomach full of beer from the night before is guaranteed to be a recipe for disaster, so I spent the rest of the troll to bluefish burleying over the side... We got to bluefish and there was no one else out there, and after spending 5 minutes trying to set the pick in what could only be described as shithouse conditions, Dan made the executive decision to head back inside as I was still looking quite green... We headed back in and started a few drifts between Sow and Pigs and Clifton Gardens across the channel... Dan picked up a rock cod and a few just legal lizards, and I ended up with a 40cm tailor and a couple of baby reds... Not a fantastic day on the fishing front but it was great to get out there again and good to meet Dan, I had a great day mate and really appreciate you putting up with my weak stomach... Martin
Looks as though you couldn't give the fish a work out, however sounds as if the stomach got one Cheers
Sharky
A little advice if your going off shore *Dont have a big night the night before. *Have some breakfast even if its light maby toast with vegimite. *take travel calm before breakfast. *If you dont want to do all of the above skull a bottle of ultrabite on the way out there it makes an awsome burly and the owner of the boat will definatly invite you out again

However on this occasion the beer the night before not only made my stomach a bit more delicate, it also made my brain not work in the morning and I forgot to take the tablet before I left home.... Guest Jocool
Looks like you had the same sorta day we did Tony. As far as making burley for the captain, Pat made some! But as soon as he had his chuck, he was a lot better! But I did warn him before hand...I don't come back for sea sick deckies until they are bringing up blood!
