blaxland
Hi Raiders, Last few weeks on the way out from Roseville have noticed big Kingfish on the surface and have made a half hearted effort at them no bights. Few charters around didnt see any takes. Last friday decided to target them solely. Tried Flies caralina rig, dont have a fly rod, flies under a float, 9" slapstick soft plastic, squigy pro plastic, halcro twisties , 10 - 35 gmm, rapala x raps, bib minnows, whole fresh squid, gave up and moved down the system a bit fishing one rod with squid, one sp, lightest rod unweighted pilly tail, Bingo to pillie tail rod screems, 6lb braid, 14lb leader a short while later up comes a rat which I put back but at least I got one. Yowie
It can be quite difficult to have kingies take a good looking bait or lure at times, yet I have hooked a few on a yakka hand line with small hook and tiny piece of bait (have not always won the fight) As you found out, you need to vary baits and lures, and it paid off.
