MainframeJames
Hi Raiders, I came across something called boat collars today. They seem to be low cost and high utility, but I haven't seen any around that I can think of. Wondering if anyone has one or if they've been in a boat equipped with one and what do you think? JonD
Some lads just up the road from me fitted one to an old express 16-17ft . They were very impressed with the performance and seemed to be out in all kinds of weather, it certainly didn't hold it back as I regularly ran home from Montague alongside them. They may have sold it as I haven't seen it on the drive for the last couple of weeks and a bigger sportsfish is now there. im considering putting one on a little tinny so my kids have a little more stability while standing flicking lures. rozza_b
never seen one in action but theres a boat around town that has one on it, i imagine they might work well but i have to say they look pretty ridiculous, would def be interested to see what difference they make
MainframeJames
I don't normally worry about looking cool while fishing, but I do take your point. It looks very out of the ordinary.
steeevooo
They do look great! Pricey though. We've been thinking of making our own. You can get the same foam the pre-fab ones use, 2m X 1m long strips 10cm thick, for a few hundred $$. I'm sure the suppliers would happily slice it into strips. It wouldn't be as thick as the Kapten ones, but it would surely still make a difference With a heavier than ideal 30hp on our tinnie some added buoyancy would be great!
