Hi there,

in a few weeks I will be heading to Sussex Inlet for some fishing,I will be staying on the jervis bay side opposite the town of Sussex, I was wondering how fast the current runs in the main channel there on the run in run out tide?

i haven’t fished the inlet before so I’m curious for info or tips.

 Thanks in advance

I lived down there on the JB side for a while in the late 80's and fished the area a lot.

The current does run pretty hard both ways, but that was when the fish bit. Fishing the slack water during the tide changes was pretty much a waste of time I found, whether fishing lures or bait. Now is a good time for bream and there are still a few flattys getting around.

If you're planning on fishing from a kayak, I'd be looking at some kind of anchor system.

While you're there don't pass up a fish over on Bherwerre Beach for salmon and tailor.

Thanks for your advice green Hornet, what’s the best way to access bherwerre beach,I have beach gear and really enjoy beach fishing,

thanks again.

There's 3 fairly simple ways to access the beach. If you let me know exactly where you're staying, I can let you know the easiest one. Feel free to PM me if you wish.
