anthman
Hi all, Ive been moving through middle harbour at very early times (still dark) and often come across a big patch of seagulls who fly out of the way when I get close. Is this just seagulls resting or could something fishy have happened earlier?

anthman
So I guess my question is: Is it worth it to stop, in the dark, and randomly pepper the area with lures to see if there is a bite? Not sure id have much luck spotting a bustup due to reduced visibility.
GoingFishing
Night time bust up 90% chance that wud be tailor... ur more likely to get better results by anchoring up berley and float some baits down....
frankS
Seagulls often have problems with fish predators nipping at their feet (quiet often see a one legged seagull ) so they prefer the quieter bays etc to rest up in, If the gulls are not diving there are no fish in area. Piss'n'Broke
My brother Greg quite often scares a lot of gulls resting on the water when he goes out Saturday night at 10pm chasing squid for the following day's fishing,,, so I wouldn't waste my time having a fish where they are sitting on the water.
