Bobby.V
Hey guys, Hoping someone can give me some pointers! I just bought my first boat, a 12ft tinnie. Keen to get in to some fishing around Brisbane Water. I'm not that experienced fishing Australian waters/salt water.. I've been living in Africa the last 4 years fishing freshwater. Anyone have advice for some spots? I've heard around the rip bridge between woy woy and woy woy bay is good. Has anyone fished inside woy woy bay / horsfield bay / phegans bay in a boat? Any good spots for lure fishing? Happy to catch anything really! Thanks in advance Edited December 17, 2018 by Bobby.V
Guest Guest123456789
Welcome to fish raider Bobby. the common spots are Gosford rail bridge, paddy’s channel, Woy Woy Raul bridge, st Hubert’s island bridge, the rip bridge, half tide rocks, lobster beach and box head. Woy Woy bay fishes as well as the rest of the system and can be good when it’s windy as it’s quite protected. There’s a small beach at horsfield bay which is good for a swim this time of year when it’s hot. There is also a 4 knot zone around parks bay and some flats and drop offs which are good lure fishing territory on a rising tide. also have a look at Lintern channel near Davistown and Saratoga for crabs this time of year. Best of luck and I look forward to some of your reports.

I'll need to invest in a fish finder asap so I can find some nice holes too.
antonywardle
there are a few of us that live up there. We've even had a raider catch up organised by @flatheadluke Paddys is good for Bream and whiting, Tascott can get mullet and drift for flathead, lots of people try for jewfish at the rip. Good luck mate!
Guest Guest123456789
Just remember fisheries and maritime are out in force this time of year and you will likely be stopped and checked. There are sooo many laws and regulations so make sure you have a checklist of everything you need. Fishing alone in a boat without a legal life jacket catches a lot of people out (vessel less than 4.8 metres). Also remember to stay at least 60 metres from swimmers and adhere to the 4 and 8 knot speed limits. There is no shortage of d%*^heads on the water this time of year (particularly jet skis) so where possible I’d fish around dawn or near 4 and 8 knot zones. @antonywardle and @kiwicraig and I have a what’s app group we use to share intel when on the water so if you would like to join just shoot me a PM with your mobile and I’ll add you to the group. We are planning a Dolly session with @antonywardle when he gets his new boat up and running and i’ll Probably host another bbq and my place soon.
