yting
Ok, last month went up to Noosa for a few days. Took the young fella out on a hire boat. We caught this little “Bream” or so I thought in the back canals. Worm for bait. looking back now I’m not so sure it was a Bream with that big dorsal fin. The young bloke reckons he’s got one up on me with a new species that I have never caught. Is he right? Thanks
GoingFishing
Looks more like a tarwhine than a bream ! Young fella might be right
Berrero
I caught something very similar in a Sydney estuary last week and had no idea until I asked a mate. Think you may have a herring. The mouth opened outwards like yours rather than a standard bite Edited April 26, 2019 by Berrero

wchh
Some years back in 2005 , I caught quite some bream from the Anchorage and sort of remembered those bream were a lot slimmer than our Sydney version. So that fish could still be a bream apart from the mouth does look like a bit soft for a bream? Not the clearest photo though. charles

Blackfish
Enlarged the first photo and can see the Dorsal fin better and also the extended mouth. Im going to change my suggestion. I now recon Threadfin Silverbiddy. "Gerres filamentosus"
