mrsswordfisherman Posted October 28, 2019 Posted October 28, 2019 Swansea Channel and Bridge closed this week for night work Boaters are advised there will be channel and bridge closures in Swansea Channel at Lake Macquarie this week for biannual inspections and maintenance to be carried out. Transport for NSW will inspect and test the electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components and emergency systems of the bridge overnight to minimise impact to motorists and boaters. Work will be carried out at night starting Monday 28 to Thursday 31 October between 7pm and 5am and is expected to be completed in four shifts, weather permitting. The bridge will be closed to marine traffic at night while the work is being carried out and exclusion zones will be in place. Closed bridge spans will be indicated by channel blocked markers suspended from the bridge above the closed spans, and yellow buoys will be in the water. Skippers are advised the bridge will not be open for marine traffic while work is carried out. The southbound bridge will be closed on Monday night and the northbound bridge will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights between 7pm and 5am. One bridge will remain open at all times with one lane operating in each direction. Boaters should follow the directions of all signs and Aids to Navigation.
