James Clain Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Just wondering what sort of rod would pair well with a saragosa 25000 spooled with 70lb braid looking for a rod that would break at no less than around 40 kg because i might spool it with 80lb eventually. I need a rod that has a length that casts well so it can be used for flicking large lures and bait land based while still being flexible and short enough to be used on a boat fishing with baits and lures. My wallet is not very big
Stino Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 I can’t praise Shimano terez rods enough, there’s a 6”9 or a 7”8 that would suit your Saragossa, obviously the 7”8 give you more on the long heavy casting, whilst the 6”9 better on the boat. They are both 40 to 80lb or step up to the heavy 40-100lb in a 6”. I have the 30-50lb with a Shimano thunnus 12000 and love it. About I buy the 40-80lb when they run out this years models. The average around $260+ bit I’ve picked them up on special for as low as $120. Top value and performance in my opinion 1
Rebel Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 Try the Abu Garcia range, they will not brake the bank and they are good rods. Cheers. 1
James Clain Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 I am looking at the Terez white 6ft 9 either 40-80 or 40-100 but I will just feel whats best when/if I buy one. The person Im buying the Saragosa off is also selling a Shimano t curve deep jigger for a better price although im not to sure if it is any good for what i plan on doing, can I can any land based action with that rod or will it only be good on the boat?
JonD Posted December 12, 2019 Posted December 12, 2019 I use a Terez 40-80 with a 10000 twin power which is pretty well matched. My saragosa 25000 is paired with a Jigging master power spell 300g which will easily lift more than the 25000 max drag setting. 1 1

I would quite happily use my Terez 40-80 land based, they are quite light in my opinion and not what you might think a 40-80 should be. I had a t curve and wasn't overly excited by it so sold it on with a Spheros 14000.

D0 you think the Terez 40 80 would balance well with a Gosa and also do well fighting big fish like that marlin for example or even a GT?

Personaly I find the big gosa bulky and a little awkward for casting, maybe more suited to the heavier Terez, especially if you have to drag a big king up a rock face etc. In saying that we all have different likes and dislikes.

Yes very true thank you for your information would you go the 40-80 or 40-100lb James

I haven't tried the 40-100 but can't imagine it being that much heavier.

tyrone07 Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 As mentioned above the 25000 is a big bulky reel, hope you go to the gym casting lures all day you are going to feel it in your back and arms. What is your budget for a rod mate?

James Clain Posted December 22, 2019 Author Posted December 22, 2019 Thanks everyone - Picked up a Terez white in 40lb - 100lb rating today. 1
