JonD
Haha the day had to come when I found some reds eventually. Snapper every drop, in-fact two each drop when my newcomer wasn't lying on the floor feeling sick!!! Started off with the usual feeding of the leatherjackets untill I decided to head over and watch the feeding humpbacks. My sounder blocked out with the baitfish the the whales were feeding on and I noticed a few fish showing under them following at the bottom. I guess the snapper were picking off injured small baitfish and I soon found they were hungry for pilchards. A charter boat with around 8-10 people was fishing close by and not catching a thing. The snapper were moving quite fast so each drop was a case of finding them and dropping straight into them, with fish often taking my bait well before I got to the bottom. Plastics and micro jigs were a waste of time funny enough. I managed to stay with the fish for around 1hr catching 10 over a 300m movement area they moved in.
Scratchie
Haha, the title sucked me in there JonD. 🤣🤣 I didn’t read the “NOT” part and I was thinking firstly, where the bloody hell did you find the snapper up here 🤔 and secondly, why didn’t you let me know your about! 🤣🤣 Well done on finding some. They are fairly scarce at the moment. But find the bait, find the fish! Glad you finally found a feed of snapper though! cheers scratchie!!!

GoingFishing
So you finally found the reds ! well done mate, persistence pays off. Would have been a nervous time dropping baits among the pillies getting hammered by whales

JonD
Same area today and not a single fish, not even jackets. Looked exactly the same on the sounder but the fish just didn't want to play. I did have a few curious images on the sounder.
61 crusher
Well done on finally getting amongst some good snapper & great photos, I’ve never seen the whales feeding like that, I know what I’ll be doing if I do though 👍
