alexoklad
Hi all, Heading down to Callala beach for the weekend with some mates, looking to get them onto some salmon & tailor from the beach (which shouldn't be too hard), and maybe some kingies or snapper from the rocks if anyone knows any safe spots apart from the main LBG areas (Tubes etc...) Thanks all
Green Hornet
Jump onto Google Earth and take a look at Big Beecroft/Mermaids Inlet at Currarong for a safe rock fishing spot that can cope with a decent swell. For your beach fishing, Warrain Beach stretching between Culburra and Currarong should provide you with a few fish. Just be aware there is a Sanctuary Zone just south of Kinghorn Point. Thanks GH, What can I expect to catch at mermaids? The usual Bream/drummer or are there snapper and grouper lurking around? thanks again
noelm
Snapper off the rocks is a bit of an art, just fluking one is possible, but unless you fish for them often, success is hard going.

I have seen snapper caught off the SE corner, but not many considering the hours some guys have put in. You can get groper there all along the ledge, but for bream and drummer you’re best trying the south end around the mouth of Mermaids on the edges of the wash. If the swell is down, Little Beecroft, on the south end of Lobster Bay, will fish better for the bread and butter species. Use caution there as the rocks are low to the water and best fished on a low tide. Edited November 14, 2020 by Green Hornet
