Pickles
Next to Kingfish, there is nothing that is more fun than bass on light gear. They fight hard, fight clean and punch above their weight. I hit the tributary of the Hawkesbury and Colo rivers, for a total of 27 Bass on the top of the tide, which coincided with early morning (tide change is a lot later up here). Weather was perfect and after last nights storm, thunder and lightening and a southerly blow, the fresh clear morning high pressure was a “flipped switch” for the Bass to feed up big. All were small, but legal and all returned to be caught another day. Deep divers in Pink, Purple and dark grey did the damage. Largest fish was 38cm (not the one in the photo) and a stupidly forgot my 🍌.
big Neil
Great result Bob. Looks like the Bass react to serious storm activity in the same way that Murray Cod do. My neighbours birthday so I invited them round for a Kingfish dinner. Very nice and went down well. Cheers, bn
frankS
Well done. I love bass and the Colo, do you launch at the bridge to nowhere ? and if so what is it like as a ramp these days, been a couple of years since I have used it. Frank

Pickles
Reply - franS - ramp at bridge is OK, but turning and parking pretty dodgy. The ramp is short and at anything other than high tide, your trailer drops off the end of the concrete, so a 4wd is essential. Ramp is also mossy / greasy at low tide, so wheel slip occurs. It’s a fair run from Wisemans though, but a much better ramp. pappafish - There are plenty of access spots to get Bass (and EP’s) land based, but a boat / kayak puts you on the weed beds and access to under the trees, so much better. I might have to go for a road trip and have a look at it to see if it's a viable spot for the upcoming season. The Colo is one of my favorite Bass locations and worth the journey. Frank Frank look at launching from any ski parks nearby. Will only cost a small visitor/ramp fee for the day and allows extra fishing time instead of launching elsewhere and travelling the river.
