Lowrance Precision 9

I have ordered a Lowrance Precision 9 for my Auto Pilot and my questions are:
Is this only a compass without a GPS?
and if I have to still run a separate GPS antenna I have 2 options I have a Lowrance Point1 AP and a Garmin 19X ready to install which one would be best for GPS use?

As I have a hardtop cab aluminium boat can the Precision 9 be mounted inside the cab to get it as low as possible to the waterline rather than on the roof where the GPS would be mounted?

My Garmin GPS is brilliant.  Also I have read other people’s view on Garmin GPS and they appear to be the better units for gps. Good luck
