koons
I fished Lane Cove River and IC (Rodd's Pt) yest evening. Started at LCR and waded on the sand banks, ....using 3" watermelon soft plastics. No bites at all except for toads. Walked the bank but nothing. Then headed to Rodds Pt, and went to the tip. Lost a couple of SPs as got snagged. No fish as well. I am fairly new to SPs. Tried doing the rod actions and all. what am i doing wrong? Also i am getting line twist. is this common with using SPs? And how do i avoid snags? pls help thanks
Yaulpang
Hey Koons, Howzit. I fished IC today, from 7am - 10am on a rising tide, high was round 10am. I've found IC fishes best on a high tide and have caught decent fish at this time. Today I got 3 flatties and a chopper tailor. First of all don't fish Rodd point, I find spots to the west of it produce better fish. Im attaching a pic from 8footugly's post with better spots. I've fished them and have caught bream and flathead from them. Bream I find are hard to catch but flathead are easier. A violent jerk and keep the sp twitching as you wind in the slack. Remember to keep it bouncing off the bottom. Good luck

ianoc69
Hi Koons, I fish IC quite regularly and have tried all spots mentioned in the above posts. You are correct with Rodd Point - I have seen some nice fish taken from there BUT there is alot of snags around the areas that hold the fish. I had a 2 hour session there one morning and lost 8 jigheads to snags where as my more experinced fishing partner lost only 1 and managed some decent size lizards. I have also fished with 8footugly in the areas he so kindly provided and found that the spots marked F are pretty snag free and you should have no trouble bouncing off the bottom. The spots marked B are closer to some rock areas and more caution here is needed. Also are you fishing 1/16 jighead because that is plenty
