noelm
Lake Illawarra has lots of spots that would suit, plenty of jetties and suitable shore line, on the NW side of the bridge near the Bowling club, there can be a bit of current there, but quite a few fish are caught. 2

Ah yeah, I know that spot, great one, but always has a bit of a current like you said.
noelm
That spot fishes great for Blackfish, lots of locals fish there, as long as you don't cast out to the middle of the channel (Tourist style) it's OK, the current sort of creates an eddy there, just fish the very edge of the weed bank. Up in the lake itself there are jetties built all over the place that have easy access, no current at all and a few fish, but, it's hard going getting a few. There is jetties opposite all the shops in Warrawong, easy parking, some over towards Berkeley, even on the Southern side near the bridge has some easily accessible spots, easy parking and so on.
